Emerging Leaders Institute

The Emerging Leaders Institute is for high potential employees and new managers
who are ready to focus on core leadership skills and are posed to move up in their
organization. Seasoned managers would benefit from this training as well, as they
will refresh themselves with current and proven leadership strategies.

You can pick and choose which workshops best meet your
needs, or take all 8 workshops and earn a Completion Award.

Each course is just $ 23.00
and earns ½ unit of college credit!

Employee Engagement
Define Employee Engagement and what it looks like in the workplace. Learn the difference between engaged, disengaged, and actively disengaged employees and how they impact the workplace. Participants will learn five key ways to engage employees as well as strategies to implement to help keep employees engaged. Participants will also learn how to re-engage disengaged employees.

Leadership Essentials
This class will help prepare new and emerging leaders to succeed by defining the roles, functions and responsibilities of great leaders. Participants will also learn effective delegation procedures and elements of successful coaching. They will learn how to display professionalism. A special emphasis will be placed on change management.

Leading with Strengths
This class is designed to help leaders recognize their own strengths and learn how to invest in the strengths of those they lead. Using Gallup’s Strengths Finder 2.0 Assessment, participants will learn to take inventory on the strengths of the team they are on and the team they lead. Participants are required to purchase the Strengths Finder 2.0 Assessment (either buy a new book or the assessment alone).
Students must take the assessment before the first day of class and bring a printed copy of the Insight and Action Planning Guide to the first day of class.

Values & Ethics
Ethical behavior affects what happens in the workplace. This class provides the opportunity to evaluate ethical behavior and what’s appropriate and what’s not. A 3-step checklist is introduced to help participants in recognizing ethical behavior.

Generational Diversity
Working on cross-generational teams can be challenging. There is not a “one size fits all” approach to leading, communicating, and motivating people from different generations. This class will help participants to better understand the generational personality of each group and how to better interact with colleagues from different generations. Participants will understand why each generation behaves the way they do and leave the class with tools that will help them work better together.

Challenges of Leadership
This class is designed to equip participants with skills needed to deal with the various challenges with leading people. Special emphasis will be placed on practical and proven tools to deal with difficult people and have tough conversations. The topic of accountability will be explored in regard to individual performance and organizational success. Participants will learn about progressive discipline and how to resolve performance problems quickly and permanently.

Emotional Intelligence
This workshop will reveal the 5 competencies of EQ and guide you through specific activities to increase your proficiency in each competency.
