Microsoft Word 2013

Introduction: Knowing how to write reports and letters using Microsoft Word 2013 is a basic skill needed in nearly any job. This powerful word-processing program lets you professionally type, edit, format, spell check, and print documents. In this course, you’ll master all the basics of Microsoft Word.

Intermediate: Go beyond the basics of desktop publishing with Microsoft Word 2013. In this course, you’ll learn how to automate Word 2013 to help you write more while typing less. You’ll also learn different ways to format text; how to add graphics to create signs, newsletters, or greeting cards; and how to generate documents with indexes and tables of content.

Microsoft Excel 2013

Beginner/Intermediate: This is an introductory hands-on nine hour course where the participants will learn the basic operations of Microsoft Excel. This course will show how to use various functions of Excel to create tables to increase the productivity. It will also show how to unlock the potential of their data, by using formulas across a grid of cells.

Intermediate/Advanced: In this hands-on workshop series, you will learn how to create informative data representation using advanced functions of Excel such as VLOOKUP, INDEX, and MATCH. The use and advantage of Excel’s “Pivot Table: will be discussed and practiced in details. The users will also learn how to create and use Macros to become efficient in using data.

Microsoft Excel 2013

Introduction: This course is for a novice or an intermediate database user. In this 3-day practical and project-oriented workshop series, you will learn how to use Microsoft Access 2013 to create and customize tables. You will have the opportunity to build relationships between your tables to eliminate redundancies and slash data entry time as well as discover how to achieve huge reductions in data entry errors.

Intermediate/Advanced: Take your data management to the next level! Learn how to start automating routine tasks with labor-saving macros. You will also receive tips and techniques for optimizing your database, including ways to build crosstab and summarize queries so you can access information quickly and easily as well as outer table joins that can make you queries more effective and reports using conditional formatting to highlight key data points, and explore Visual Basic, a powerful programming language that allows you to automate simple and complex tasks.


SOCIAL MEDIA STRATEGY – Understand the role of social media on the web and determine a strategy for a media plan.

FACEBOOK – Understanding Pages / Creating, Maintaining, and Promoting Pages / Tracking Promotional Efforts / Applications for Your Business / Being Mobile with Facebook / Social Ads.

TWITTER – Setting an account / Ways to use your account / Combining your account with Facebook.

LINKED IN – LinkedIn is the largest professional network that now allows for company profiles as well as personal profiles. It is distinct in that it is 100% business focused. Learn to utilize this tool and make connections via company, industry, group and interest.

YOUTUBE – Why Use YouTube / How To!

BLOGGING – Why Blog / What to Use / Integrating Blogging with Social Media. WordPress – WordPress is the leading web/blogging software in business. It can be utilized to set up blogs or traditional websites to post commentary, thoughts, ideas, photos, audio, video, etc. It is a free open source software, extremely flexible and has all the popular plug-ins.

Becoming A Social Media Strategist

DAY 1: Strategic Planning
Create a social media strategic plan that directly relates to the company’s goals. The plan will include a segmentation, targeting, and positioning (STP) analysis, preparation of specific, measureable, attainable, relevant, and time-based (SMART) goals for both internal and external purposes as well as itemized key performance indicators (KPI’s).

DAY 2: Compliance, Governance, Research & Analysis
Create company policies that include: social media use, employee compliance, administrative procedures for governance, communication, and reporting. Utilize keyword analysis and appropriate analytics tools and recognize how to optimize KPI and action appropriately.

DAY 3: Social Media Marketing
Generate a market map and social media marketing plan for valuable and innovative
content that relates to company culture.

DAY 4 & 5: Project & Community Management
Develop a content management plan that includes monitoring, maintaining, and analyzing social media as well as develop a request for proposal.

*The course is approved by the National Institute for Social Media. The NISM Certified Social Media Examination is available through Merced College Community Services – examination eligibility requirements are 64 academic units OR a minimum of 2 years business experience related to social media.
